NOW HIRING - COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

CTIC is seeking a Communications Director to help develop, deliver and monitor programs, messages and materials to promote conservation agriculture. The position involves regular communications with but not limited to federal, state and local government agencies; agriculture industry, media and associations; conservation groups and watershed partnerships. This position may also be responsible for grant-funded projects that involve technology transfer, publications, information dissemination, media relations or other communication-related outcomes.

Major Responsibilities
  • edit and write quarterly online magazine and e-newsletter
  • solicit advertisers for online magazine
  • write and distribute news releases
  • maintain media relations
  • develop and maintain social media presence
  • oversee development and delivery of communications/information materials
  • create marketing/public relations strategy to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with members, partners and target audiences
  • develop and deliver presentations, trainings and workshops
  • moderate and facilitate meetings
  • manage content on CTIC web site
  • assist Executive Director in membership and fundraising efforts; includes developing materials and meeting with members and prospective members
  • assist with writing and editing proposals
  • work on grant-funded projects as needed
  • other tasks as assigned by Executive Director

Organizational Relationships
The Communications Director reports directly to the CTIC executive director. Works regularly with the Project Directors and Director of Operations and has frequent contact with the administrative staff. Works in close partnership with the Executive Director. Has some contact with donors and grantees. Has some contact with the Board Chair, officers, and other board members. Regularly in contact with federal, state and local government agencies; agriculture industry, media and associations; conservation groups and watershed partnerships and other groups funding or participating in projects administered by CTIC.


Qualifications
  • Journalism or communications degree; or relative, adequate experience
  • Knowledge of agriculture and conservation issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 and Adobe Design Premium CS4 Suite
  • Familiarity with web site development and content management
  • Self-motivation to work independently as well as social skills to work in team environment
